New toys!!

After skiing for several years, I finally dared to try snowboarding last weekend in our 2-day Mammoth trip. Honestly speaking late March was not a good time for beginners since the snow season was almost over and most green trails were getting very icy! Anyway, I took a 3-hour lesson in the first day and only learned up to heel side zigzag. The coaches said if we returned for a second lesson then they'll teach us toe side! I almost wanted to ask for refund at that moment! The rest 1.5 days were probably among the most life threatening in my life:-P. Every fall hurt so much I didn't think any pads could help. I got bruises everywhere and I still couldn't move my neck 3 days after. I think I started to pick up the heel side trick in the end of the 1st day but then the trail got really really icy in day 2 morning and I lost it again. I did much better in day 2 afternoon and enjoyed most of it. All in all, snowboarding was a lot of fun and looked way cooler than skiing! Ha! In less than one week I couldn't resist the big sales and bought some new toys for next snow season. Lalalalala~ Special thanks to Ali who took me to the store and helped me choose!

Flowers bloom - lyrics

There is nothing glamorous in this simple town
But there’s this special flower that can only bloom right here
And all the heavy burdens in our heart,
Get carried away
The wind can smooth the wrinkles of the past

Like a dazzling reflection in the sky
I hear the distant calling of the ancient ripples of the sea
And I realize that your laughter reminds me
Of the soothing sound of the gentle ocean

And your heart can’t cover up the look of loneliness
You don’t have to reveal it to me
But anytime you need it
These faces so familiar in your heart
Wait for you to reach to their hands

I want to know if that place
That I’ve been once before
Hasn’t ever changed
And remains the place that always will be there for me
Till the last goodbye ill cherish it
And I can’t stop looking back to see
That you’re smiling waving back at me
Gonna bite my lips not to cry
And I’m trying to fight this feeling
But the tears may get so hard to see
Ill be waiting for the day
We can reunite again
Where the flowers bloom
For Just me and you

There is something that the shadows can’t explain
Something so simple and so obvious, that we forget
Behind the cloudy surface of it all, if we look up above
We’ll see the sun shine illuminate everything we see
All the past and present faces here are all to stay
Each prayer wishes new memories
I'm proud to have it all
These memories alive inside my heart
Blossoming vividly one by one

After the rain the roads are muddy and there’s puddles everywhere
And we clearly see all the footsteps in this journey thru this life we lead
And I pray these tears can find a way and breathe life back into the day
When the weltered petals in my heart once again blossoming
And I'll whisper to the ocean breeze and my wish will soar above the seas
And a rainbow in the sky will appear for you and i
Glistening in the sun, shine for everyone

Hey, the only place where the flowers bloom
The only place where this wind can blow
The only place you can hear this song
The only place you can see these sign
Hey, the only place where the flowers bloom
The only place where this wind can blow

I want to know if that place
That I’ve been once before
Hasn’t ever changed
And remains the place that always will be there for me
And ill try to fight this feeling
But the tears may get so hard to see
Ill be waiting for the day
We can reunite again

After the rain the roads are muddy and there’s puddles everywhere
And we clearly see the footsteps in this journey thru this life we lead
I try to fight this loneliness
But the tears may get so hard to see
Even thru the scars and memories
I won’t forget you and me
So radiantly shining thru
The horizon as it rises high
And the wind carries it star beneath the memories
Ooh still im waiting for you

boyz to men

Chicago

little moments

Artist: Brad Paisley
Song: Little Moments Like That

Well I'll never forget the first time that I heard
That pretty mouth say that dirty word
And I can't even remember now, what she backed my truck into
But she covered her mouth and her face got red and she just looked so darn cute
That I couldn't even act like I was mad-
Yeah I live for little moments like that

That's like just last year on my birthday
She lost all track of time and burnt the cake
And every smoke detector in the house was going off
She was just about the cry
Until I took her in my arms
And I tried not to let her see, me laugh-
Yeah I live for little moments like that

I know she's not perfect, but she tries so hard for me
And I thank God that she isn't
Cause how boring would that be?
It's the little imperfections, it's the sudden change in plans
When she misreads the directions and we're lost
But holding hands-Yeah I live for little moments like that

When she's laying on my shoulder, on the sofa, in the dark
And about the time she falls asleep, so does my right arm
And I want so bad to move it, cause its tingling and its numb
But she looks so much like an angel,
That I don't wanna wake her up-
Yeah I live for little moments-

When she steals my heart again and doesn't even know it-
Yeah I live for little moments like that

很浪漫吧~~

wanna live long?

an interesting article on the long lived

Below are some excerpts.

facts?
"... diet, exercise, health habits, social support and the ability to find meaning in life appear to play a role in getting people to, say, 85. But, some of them say, they suspect that genes play the dominant role in hitting 100 or above."

the funny parts-
...“I have a 104-year-old lady who’s been smoking for 95 years,” he (Dr. Barzilai, professor of medicine and molecular genetics) said. “Her response is, ‘Every doctor who told me to stop is now dead.’ ”

... “I have no one that was exercising,” said Nir Barzilai, director of the Institute for Aging Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, who is studying 400 centenarians. “I don’t have vegetarians. Nobody ate yogurt or anything like that. ...”
(Looks like I am on the right track in hitting 100!)

reality check-
...“The longer the person lives, the more generations you have to deal with and the more your own future becomes an issue,” said Roberta Satow, a sociologist at Brooklyn College and the author of a book on caring for parents. “We have 70-year-olds taking care of their 90- and 100-year-old parents. Those 70-year-olds are worried about what they’re going to have if they’re spending the money on Mom and Dad.”
